Several union leaders are threatening strike action, which could shut down multiple industries. They are all members of the Trade Union Congress (TUC). At a joint meeting last night, they said the question isn’t if they will strike but when.

An energized crowd gathered outside the House of Labor on Wulff Road last night as the TUC held a rally, where its 41 unions expressed their frustration.

The rally comes three years after the TUC signed a memorandum of understanding with the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) while the party was in opposition. But since then, the relationship has soured.

Some union leaders and the opposition have accused TUC President Obie Ferguson of being a political pawn. When asked if he felt betrayed, Ferguson confirmed his disappointment.
