NASSAU, BAHAMAS – According to a gender based violence study released earlier this year by the Inter-American Development Bank, one in four Bahamian women has suffered physical or sexual violence.

Being unable to rely on family members and receiving financial support from a man, are just two of the several factors listed as reasons why women continue to suffer at the hands of their abusers.

It is alarming studies like this that prompted Eugene Dupuch Law School to host a seminar focused on the topic.

Director, Nicole Sutherland King tells us the seminar served as a refresher course for the legal consul while also acting as an informational session for community leaders.
