NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two days of frantic searching ended with the news no one wanted to hear – the partially clothed body of Adriel Moxey was discovered Wednesday evening in a bushy area off a tract road near Bonefish Pond Farm, just off Faith Avenue South.

The young girl was found wearing only a shirt and a white cloth tied around her neck mere feet away from the places she frequents most: her home, school, and church.

A Marco’s alert was issued for the missing girl just after 2pm on Wednesday after flyers of her disappearance flooded social media.

Just three hours later police alerted the media that her body had been discovered using drone technology.

At the scene Wednesday night, Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander was asked if there were signs of sexual assault.

“We can’t say that, but based on the condition of the body, we will, uh, that will be one of our lines of inquiries to confirm if that did happen,” the police commissioner said.

Adriel was reported missing by her mother on Tuesday morning after she failed to return home from after-school activities on Monday. Her mother said this was highly unusual for her daughter.

One day after the tragic discovery, I spoke with her mother, 32-year-old Sasha Moxey, moments before she officially identified her daughter’s body at the hospital’s morgue.

Now, she’s left with only memories.

Her daughter’s life was cut short in these bushes just behind me. Now Adriel’s mom had this message for those who may have bEen responsible for the 12-year-old’s death.

“God don’t sleep,” she said. “You’re watching all the time. You might think he was alone, but somebody see, god see, and that’s enough. And, and, and you will get your just reward in due time. Your just reward will come.”
