NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The 2023 legal year officially opening, Wednesday, as the president of The Bahamas Bar Association pledged the association’s renewed support to the government and the public.

Those within the legal profession marching on Bay Street, then on to George Street, to Christ Church Cathedral to mark the opening of the legal year.

Following the service, the group then gathered at Magaritaville Beach Resort for the first court proceeding for the year.

Bahamas Bar Association President Khalil Parker revealed that 39 new attorneys have joined bar.

He says recent events in the country have been highlighted on the world stage which gives birth to more scrutiny.

Parker also welcomed the government’s commitment to addressing the longstanding and vexing issue of discriminatory treatment toward children of Bahamians.
