NORTH CAROLINA – Charlotte Airport workers went on strike Monday, demanding higher wages during the busy Thanksgiving travel week.

Hundreds walked off the job, protesting what they call “poverty wages” of $12.50 to $19 an hour.

The 24-hour strike includes a rally and “strikesgiving” lunch.

Airport officials say they’re monitoring operations as over a million travelers pass through this week.
