LOUISIANA, UNITED STATES – A federal court has blocked a Louisiana law that required the Ten Commandments to be displayed in public school classrooms, deeming it unconstitutional. Civil rights groups are calling the ruling a victory for religious freedom and a reaffirmation of the separation of church and state.

However, in a contrasting move, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has just signed a similar bill into law. The new Texas law not only mandates the display of the Ten Commandments in classrooms but also permits daily voluntary prayer and scripture reading in public schools, setting the stage for potential legal challenges and renewed debate over religion in education.
