Disney Christens 5th Cruise Ship In The Bahamas

ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Disney Cruise Line celebrating the christening of its newest cruise ship, the Disney Wish, in Orlando, Florida today. The event is big, not just for Disney, but for The Bahamas as the destination of choice for the cruise line.

Even the rain couldn’t stop the magical celebration as the Disney Wish became the fifth ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet. The enchanting day marking a huge expansion for Disney, but also exciting opportunities for The Bahamas.

‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ setting the tone for the christening of the Disney Wish, Wednesday morning, and an enchanting new chapter for Disney Cruise Line.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Josh D’Amaro says it’s a huge step for Disney.

The Wish represents many firsts for Disney. The first at-sea attraction, the aqua-mouse can be found on the upper decks. Families can gather at the first frozen-themed theatrical dining experience, or the first marvel dining adventure. Another first – a Star Wars hyperspace lounge exclusively for adults.

Disney’s Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek excited to christen the ship and welcome guests to experience the Wish, as it moves through the natural beauty of The Bahamas.

All five of Disney’s cruise ships are registered in The Bahamas.

This christening cruise sets sail on a three-day itinerary including a visit to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

The cay is one of two Bahamian ports of call on Disney itineraries, and according to D’Amaro that is set to grow again.

As we know, that location is Disney’s Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera, which Disney says will provide economic opportunities for Bahamians while protecting the natural beauty of the site. The development, however, still causing concern for some local environmentalists.
