NASSAU, BAHAMAS – National Vice Chairman of the Free National Movement Richard Johnson, claims he was attacked by a man he does not know.

Johnson, who is an avid supporter of former leader Dr. Hubert Minnis, says the situation got heated on the inside as the party discussed the loss of the recent West Grand Bahama and by-election.

Johnson alleges he was attacked as he spoke with supporters outside.

Johnson claims after the attacker fled the scene and returned inside.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Leamond Deleveaux told a local daily that police were informed that an argument broke out between two FNM supporters.

Meantime, Johnson says he made an official police report and provided officers with a sketch of the attacker.

Johnson says while he cannot prove it, he believe the attacker was hired to assault him.

He admits that he is very outspoken and believes recent public comments may have triggered the attack.

Overall, Johnson says he is doing well and will continue to be careful.
