NASSAU , BAHAMAS – Baha Mar is taking its influence and appreciation for art to the global stage.

The resort is serving as the principal benefactor of the Bahamas Pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale, contributing $150,000 in support of The Bahamas’ participation in the world’s premier contemporary art exhibition.

The pavilion features works by the late John Beadle and internationally acclaimed Bahamian artist Lavar Munroe, and is curated by renowned Bahamian scholar Krista Thompson.

For Baha Mar’s Vice President of Culture, John Cox, helping to support part of a million-dollar operation is priceless.

Cox says the initiative is also a significant opportunity for the country’s orange economy and cultural diplomacy.

And he says it was a collective team effort that made the project possible.

“We love to do it because we see value in it. It’s not all dollars-and-cents return the minute you do these things. It’s a long-term investment. The same thing with our Fuse Art Fair. These things take time.”
