NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A funeral director has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment after admitting to having an illegal relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Godfrey Gray, now 40, met the child at a funeral, where they exchanged numbers. They began seeing each other in October 2020 and had sex on several occasions at his home.

He was arrested and charged with unlawful sexual intercourse after the relationship was discovered in December 2020.

Gray was freed on bail in January and was forbidden from having any contact with the teen.
But while on bail, Gray was arrested at a motel in March 2021 with the young girl, who admitted that they’d had sex.

He was remanded into custody and refused bail.

Gray pleaded guilty to five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse when he appeared before Justice Gregory Hilton Thursday.

He was sentenced to five years as part of a plea deal. The sentence takes effect from today, but Gray will receive credit for the time he has spent on remand.

Once he’s completed his sentence, Gray will be on probation for two years. He’ll spend a year in prison if he’s convicted of any other crimes during the probationary period.
