HAITI – Haitian Security Forces fired weapons to protect Interim Prime Minister Garry Conille as he left a hospital in Port-au-Prince Monday, following a CNN interview, illustrating the violence plaguing the nation.

The interview at the gang-destroyed general hospital was interrupted by nearby gunfire. Conille, CNN, and officials departed under heavy security, with shots fired to provide cover.

The Haitian National Police and Multinational Security Support (MSS) later secured the area. Haiti faces severe gang violence and political upheaval, with 80% of Port-au-Prince controlled by gangs. Conille, appointed in May, aims to lead Haiti to new elections.
