NASSAU , BAHAMAS – 48-year-old Tamika Nottage-Cime was in the place she should have been safest — her home.

But just after 10 last night, gunfire shattered that sense of security in the Culmersville community off Wilton Street.

Police were alerted to the shooting by ShotSpotter technology, rushing to the scene, only to find a woman lying lifeless inside.

Chief Supt. Sheria King – Press Liaison

“Around 10 p.m. this evening, police control room received an alert from ShotSpotter technology, alerting to gunshots in the area of Alamanda Lane off Wilton Street. When officers arrived on scene, officers discovered an adult female in her late 40s with what appears to be gunshots to the upper body.”

Nottage-Cime is a daughter, mother, and grandmother.

While police continue their investigation, those who loved her are left trying to understand how something like this could happen.

Eyewitnesses told us at the scene last night that she may not have been the intended target.

They claim someone ran through her yard, being chased, and gunfire followed — bullets tearing through the very walls of her home.

We asked police about those claims, but were told they cannot make further comments as the investigation remains in its early stages.

Centreville MP Jomo Campbell was among the crowd, emotional and struggling to find the words.

“And you know, you wake up and you see people every day, and you always figure that you’re gonna see them tomorrow. And to know that we may not be able to — we may not be able to share the same experiences tomorrow — I honestly can’t find the words to describe it.”

Jomo Campbell – Incumbent MP, Centreville

“You know, it’s cliché when we hear people say this person was a good person — she truly was. I don’t know if you can find two people that have a complaint about her. This is really a shocking loss for this community.”

The most heartbreaking tributes come from her family.

They describe a woman who lived for others, who loved deeply, and who always chose peace.

Her cousin sharing a final, painful detail, saying Tamika spent her last moments doing what she loved most — caring for her grandchild.

Cousin of Deceased

“She loved the grandchildren, and just as she lived with the grandchildren, you know, she passed away with them.”

Cousin of Deceased

“She just was a person of love, a Christian, God-fearing woman who loved her children and her grandchildren. She never bothered anybody all my life. And if you see her, if an altercation is going on, even if it’s amongst family, she would make us leave there — she would remove us from any altercation. That’s just her.”

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to bring answers to a grieving family.
