NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Companies owned by former Water and Sewerage Corporation chairman Adrian Gibson received multiple contracts during his tenure, a Supreme Court jury heard.

Gibson’s former fiancée Alexandria Mackey testified that Gibson directed her to form Elite Maintenance and Baha Maintenance so they could receive landscaping and painting contracts from the corporation.

According to Mackey, the companies, which were owned by herself and Gibson, did not submit bids for the contracts received.

Mackey said that she handled the companies’ daily operations and finances.

As co-owner, she said she thought she had the right to use the money too.

However, Mackey said that Gibson accused her of stealing $200,000 from him.

Gibson is on trial along with former Water and Sewerage Corporation general manager, Elwood Donaldson, Joann Knowles and Jerome Missick, who were shareholders in the companies, and Peaches Farquharson.

Mackey has been granted immunity by the prosecution in exchange for her testimony.

They have maintained their innocence during their three-year-long trial before Senior Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson.
