GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The body of the late Obie Wilchcombe was flown into Grand Bahama this morning where he will be buried tomorrow. Flanked by police escort, Wilchcombe was taken from the airport to police headquarters on the island.

The memorial service was held for Obie Wilchcombe at the Bishop Michael Eldon School but earlier this morning Wilchcombe’s body was flown into Grand Bahama on board Western Air’s flight number 701.

Once the flight landed, with a police escort, the body was taken to police headquarters where his family would be the first to view him.

Shortly after that, the viewing was opened to government officials as well as the general public, some coming from east and west. Our News was able to speak to one of Wilchcombe’s cousins from Tampa as well as several others who said he will be remembered by all.

Our team also caught up with Minister for Grand Bahama Ginger Moxey and former Cabinet Minister and Central Grand Bahama MP Neko Grant.

Officer-in-Charge of the Northern Bahamas, Assistant Commissioner B.K. Bonimy Jr. was also there to pay his respects to Wilchcombe

Now viewing continued up to 5 pm today. The funeral service is being held at Pro-Cathedral of Christ the King at 10 am tomorrow.
