SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – We just witnessed the greatest playoff performance ever by a Bahamian in the NBA playoffs. With the Golden State Warriors’ season on the line, Buddy Hield delivered when it mattered most. Hield not only had his best game of the season but also the best game of his NBA postseason career in the Warriors’ 103-89 win over the Houston Rockets last night at the Toyota Center in Houston. Hield finished with 33 points, shooting 12-15 from the field and 9-12 from three-point range. The 9 threes tied the NBA record for most threes made in a Game Seven. The 33 points were a season high and playoff career high.
Houston had been running an effective box-and-one-like zone for much of the series, and the Warriors found the answer in the most obvious place. Hield shot 6-7 from three en route to 22 first-half points and a 12-point Warriors lead.
Over the course of Hield’s first eight seasons, he made six postseason threes. He made 18 threes in the series against the Rockets. And now, on to Minnesota. The Warriors open the second-round series on the road against the Timberwolves Tuesday night at 9:30 p.m. local time on TNT. The Warriors won the season series 3-1.
