Jamaica Public Service Gets Paternity, Adoption Leave

JAMAICA – For the first time in Jamaica’s history, paternity leave and adoption leave are now in effect in the nation’s public service.

Finance and the Public Service Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke announced the update in a tweet on Wednesday.

The leave which took effect January 1, 2023 grants males a period of 20 working days with pay for paternity and adoption leave.

Employees are entitled to adoption leave on no more than three occasions.
