NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Her given name is Alexis Gray, but for wrestling enthusiasts, she’s Kaylia Capri.

The high-flying energetic wrestling superstar is a former track star, but her passion for wrestling took center stage during the pandemic.

That’s when she was offered a job with global professional wrestling leader, the World Wrestling Entertainment.

Kaylia Capri – Professional Wrestler

“I got to meet the greats, I got to feel exactly why wrestling was so special to them and to integrate myself into that, it was a very different world to me.”

Capri continued to rise through the ranks, but not long after, she was let go by the company during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I ended up getting it taken, getting it back, and then having to wait a whole year to finish school so I can get my OPT to start the job, and then I finally got there, but I was all by myself because I got there after class, so I was kind of like a lone wolf,” she said.

However, she didn’t let her circumstances deter her.

She kept in the game and is now employed with All Caribbean Wrestling, where several months ago she was crowned the ACW Women’s Champion in Nassau, Bahamas.

Capri says it’s the best thing that’s happened to her.

“I just absolutely fit, it was my stomping grounds, I felt comfortable, and Mark Henry came along to make the company even better, [to] take it to…greater heights…Speaking to him he heard me out, and he understood where I was coming from because that was my biggest thing because I came from a country [where] I didn’t even know this was a thing, didn’t know this was possible.”

Despite that, it’s not as easy or “fake” as many would think.

“In a wrestling ring, when you add in the ropes, the bumps wanting to punch, someone wanted to duck,…that’s a lot of different movements that cost your body to really really like damn near pass out in just that second,” Capri said.

She says she wants to continue being an inspiration to young girls around her and to grow the sport in The Bahamas – two things she dearly loves.

Capri also added that one day, she believes she will make it back to the big leagues.

“They leave it all up to you and if you do succeed they are quite welcoming and opening that door for you to come back, and I rather come back in as Kaylia Capri rather than Alexis Gray when I was there.”
