NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Masks will still be required in some places once the mask mandate ends on October 1. Here’s what you need to know.

The Office of the Prime Minister confirming the news via social media late Wednesday afternoon, after a nearly three-year policy.

“Today, we are announcing the removal of the mask mandate in The Bahamas on October 1st. However, masks will continue to be required in schools, health care facilities, and in senior care homes for the time being.”

Prime Minister Philip Davis notes that some Bahamians will choose to continue wearing a mask in crowded settings, and everyone’s choices deserve our respect.

Adjustments to the mask mandate were recommended by the Advisory Committee of the Ministry Of Health & Wellness, while encouraging people with COVID symptoms to still seek testing.

Free public testing and vaccinations continue across The Bahamas.
