PM On Re-electing Baroness Scotland

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Patricia Scotland QC is the 6th Commonwealth Secretary General and the first woman to hold that post. At the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Rwanda she was re-elected for a second term – a move heavily pushed by the Prime Minister.

The Bahamas played an extremely active role in encouraging others to join in for the re-election of Patricia Scotland as Commonwealth Secretary General.

That according to Prime Minister Philip who said as much when he returned from Rwanda earlier this week and he explained to the press why her re-election was so important.

Prime Minister Davis went further describing Baroness Scotland as “More than a friend to small island developing states”.

He also spoke about several initiatives that The Bahamas could relate to that Scotland has championed.
