GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Gea Pierre has accumulated many awards throughout her career and she’s held many titles, from writer to producer  and director.

But, what many recall most about her was her ability to bring comedic relief to real-life situations.

Playwright and past president of the Player’s Guild, Sue-Lyn Macrea has known Pierre since the start. Her mother taught her as a student and immediately helped to hone her talents.

Charles Laroda, a part of the board of directors, also helping to mentor pierre during the 80s.

He recalls her natural talent to create entertaining poetry out of any situation. He says her talents will be missed from the stage.

President of Freeport’s Player Guild, Chris Russell, says although Pierre could be demanding at times, it was only because she was passionate and always wanted to present the best product, something that drew audiences from all walks of life.

Pierre’s last stage play, “March On”, was so well received that the show remained on tour well beyond the 2023 50th Anniversary of Independence.

Since then, she was working on a new play titled, “The Playbook.”

Lighting engineer and designer at the Regency Theater, Sean Thompson II, says they were in the planning stages of bringing the play to life as she already secured the theater for May.
