NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Renaldo Toote has been sworn in as Acting Registrar of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

It comes as the judiciary has seen many improvements over the past few months.

Toote telling us he plans to continue carrying out mandates from the court council and the Judicial and Legal Services Commission. He says most of his duties now lean more toward judicial responsibilities.

As of July this year, the court services bill came into effect. The bill is a landmark and transformative piece of legislation giving the court a sense of Independence.

Toote says the passing of this Act brought significant changes.

“Since the court services act was passed just over three-four months, we have now brought in the chief executive officer, we’ve also brought in a new director of court services whereas most of our administrative and logistical advances are going to be handled by the court services council,” he said.

That council he says will allow the judicial office to put greater focus and management on cases which he says will allow a more efficient process.
