NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two days after officials said law enforcement is now in search and recovery mode following that tragic boating incident, a top RBDF official is now saying search and rescue is still ongoing.

Three days after that smuggling attempt turned deadly, officials are still in the search and rescue stage, at least for another day.

Royal Bahamas Defence Force Deputy Commodore Shondel Pinder confirming that fact.

However, he’s singing a different tune from Search and Rescue Coordinator Commandor William Sturrup, who on Monday said officials are now in search and recovery mode.

He says they were on the lookout for three individuals as officials believe 45 people were on the capsized vessel in total.

Seventeen bodies were handed over to PHA following the incident.

The morgue has long been plagued with overcrowding issues.
