NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Works working aggressively to make the daily commute of motorists more enjoyable, however it may seem some communities are getting more attention than others.

Francis Clarke, senior civil engineer in the Ministry of Works, explains the island of New Providence has over 800 miles of roads, some of which were paved over 50 or 60 years ago. That life span means some of those streets are urgently in need of re-paving.

Clarke says the ministry now paves local roads using international standards, which is expected to increase their lifespan up to 20 years.
