NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – Fox Hill is now at the center of a competitive three-way race as we head into the 2026 General Election.

The Progressive Liberal Party Fred Mitchell, a longtime politician and former cabinet minister is looking to keep the seat for his party.

Challenging him is the Free National Movement’s Dr. Nicholas Fox, a medical professional campaigning for change and community development.

And also in the race is Robert Brown, the Coalition of Independents candidate, ushing for greater accountability and representation for Fox Hill residents.

But much of the attention has been on the war of words between Mitchell and Fox. Mitchell bashes the FNM and COI, saying their representatives are irrelevant.

“Who’s representing the name or the person of the candidate who’s representing COI or FNM is irrelevant. What is relevant is they represent the FNM, and the FNM stands for neglect, disrespect of poor people, locking you up, seeking to come out.” – Fred Mitchell

Dr. Fox responding with criticism of his own, as both men try to win over voters.

“My opponent has reached his expiration date, he is obsolete so I listen to absolutely nothing he has to say. He is irrelevant as far as I’m concerned and I’m just doing what I’m supposed to do. I am a Fox Hillian. Let me repeat that, I am a Fox Hillian. A true born Fox Hillian and I will do whatever it takes for my people to have a comfortable sensible progressive life.” – Dr. Nicholas Fox

Despite the political attacks, both candidates say they are focused on improving Fox Hill. Here is Mitchell’s take on what he does in the constituency.

“Actually, was I ran into people who were voting for the first time, and they said, oh yeah, I remember you. You gave us a gift when we were students at Samuels Primary School. So it has that kind of benefit, but basically the lesson is gift-giving, kindness.” – Fred Mitchell

Dr. Fox also outlining his vision for the constituency.

I’ve seen Fox Hill go from a cohesive community to one where there is so much violent crime and the people are afraid, and I would like to see Fox Hill back to the cohesive family unit community that it was when I was there.” – Dr. Nicholas Fox

With election day drawing closer, ghe race for Fox Hill continues to gain momentum as candidates make their final push for votes.
