NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A leader of a local union is hitting back at the Ministry of Education’s initiatives to tackle learning loss.

Bahamas Union of Teachers President Belinda Wilson expressing disappointment in government’s attempt to combat the issue of learning loss in the country.

In a lunch address to members of the Rotary Club of West Nassau, Wilson revealed approximately 14,000 students did not attend school during the pandemic, and many of them did not return once restrictions were lifted.

She says her team has gone into inner city communities to identify the issues.

In addition, Wilson says the virtual platform put in place is still flawed.
