NASSAU, BAHAMAS – 15 families receiving keys to their brand homes Friday, this time in the Sir Lynden Pindling Estates Subdivision.

It’s the latest rent to own initiative by government.

Our Joshua Williams was at the opening ceremonies as these families now begin a new chapter.

That’s the sound of joy as this resident received the keys to her new home.

She, along with 14 others, will soon realize the dream of owning their own home, many of them for the first time.

This couple of 10 years say their new home will be a surprise for their two daughters.

It’s the latest housing initiative led by the Davis Administration – following the two most recent developments, Pinecrest and Renaissance.

The houses, built by Arawak Homes, are three bedroom, two bathroom homes, with kitchen, dining and living spaces.

Prime Minister, Philip Davis, says they recognize that in the wake of the pandemic, many Bahamians have struggled to own homes.

Housing Minister, Keith Bell, says renters will pay around one thousand dollars per month, adding that in todays rental climate, it’s a great offer.

According to Bell, the initiative is also expected to expand to the family islands.
