NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A judge has denied bail to a man accused of gun charges and death threats.

Rodman Knowles is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of ammunition and threats of death.

Prosecutors say that while concerned with another, Knowles was found in possession of an AR-15 assault rifle, which contained 27 rounds of .223 ammunition, and that he threatened two police officers and a marine with death.

Officers responding to reports of gunshots went to Grant Street, where they saw a Nissan Cube leaving the area.

An occupant of the car allegedly opened fire on the officers with an assault rifle, who opened returned fire.

Once arrested, Knowles allegedly told the officers that he was on bail for murder and that he would kill them whenever he was released from custody.

Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez refused Knowles’ bail application on the grounds that he was a threat to public safety.

Knowles was on bail for a 2018 murder and attempted murder when he allegedly reoffended.
