CANADA – The perspective of living abroad varies depending on who you speak with, Bahamian resident Jenishka Clarke shares her experience as a person living in Canada waiting for their permit to be renewed.

During that time, Jenishka says she felt stuck, and with no one to lean on, she decided to pack up her apartment and return to home.

Although some might view her decision as drastic, she explains that her mental health was her priority, and that she couldn’t afford to worry about public opinion.

Though it was a vulnerable time, Jenishka says she felt that it was important to share her story, as many people have an idealized image of living abroad.

Living abroad might offer a higher income, but she says there are hidden challenges that can push you to your breaking point.
