BREEF Introduces Their Student Environmental Advocates Program

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – That”s executive director of the non profit organization BREEF, Casuarina McKinney-Lambert, sharing the intent behind Saturday’s public snorkel event at Saunders Beach.

In recognization of World Water Day, this was just not an opportunity for BREEF to engage the public, but, also to officially introduce their student environmental advocates program, Also known as the S.E.A program.

This year’s World Water Day falls under the theme, “glacier preservation”. Mckinney-Lambert says despite there being no glaciers in The Bahamas, melting ice in other parts of the world has a huge impact locally, specifically with sea level rise.

With that in mind, the snorkel initiative served as a fun activity for the students and an open air classroom. McKinney-Lambert believes exposing them to a wealth of knowledge and the importance of connecting their passion for the environment to various career opportunities focused on conservation will ultimately nurture a Bahamas that is sustainable for all generations.
