NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Ocean Cay proved it’s more than just a tropical getaway. It’s now a key player in the fight against climate change and marine conservation.

Prime Minister Philip Davis joined MSC Cruises executives, government officials, researchers and students for the grand opening of a new marine conservation center, a promise by MSC that’s now been fulfilled.

The new state-of-the-art facility includes an aquarium, bio lab, lecture hall and discovery pavilion, all built to advance education, research and coral reef recovery.

Those in attendance shared their sentiments about the great project:

“Our journey here in The Bahamas with The Bahamas is only just beginning, together with our new partners Bamsi, and UB we will support the training of this and next generation marrying scientists and conservation practitioners.”

Member of Parliament for West Grand Bahama and Bimini, Kingsley Smith, applauded the transformation.

While Environment and Marine Resources Minister Vaughn Miller shared the importance of coral and why they are important to the country:
