Former Cop Convicted of Planning Romantic Rival’s Murder
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A police corporal lost his job and his freedom after he was convicted of a planning a man’s murder.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A police corporal lost his job and his freedom after he was convicted of a planning a man’s murder.
A jury found Corporal Darren Davis guilty of planning the December 3, 2022 fatal shooting of Jayson Whitfield.
The 43-year-old was shot multiple times while in his government-issued car in Garden Hills.
Prosecutors alleged and six of the nine jurors accepted that Davis was motivated by jealousy after his girlfriend left him for Whitfield.
It’s alleged that Davis stalked Whitfield in the days leading up to his death.
Jurors acquitted Davis’ cousin and alleged co-conspirator of the murder plot.
The former officer was on bail during his trial has been remanded to prison to await his September sentencing before Justice Renae McKay.
He faces a minimum sentence of 30 years.
No one has been charged with carrying out the murder.
