Consumer Index Report Reveals Slight Decline In Inflation

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas National Statistical Institute’s latest Consumer Price Index report reveals a slight decline in overall prices for average consumers.

Month-to-month comparisons show notable decreases in food and non-alcoholic beverages (down 0.8%), household furnishings and maintenance (down 0.6%), and health (down 0.1%), while restaurant and hotel prices edged up slightly by 0.1%.

Compared to the same period in 2024, the index is down 0.4%, with the largest declines seen in housing, utilities, gas and other fuels (down 3.5%), recreation and culture (down 2.7%), and food and drinks (down 1.7%).

The report suggests inflation may finally be trending downward, reversing earlier increases recorded between December 2024 and April 2025. In April specifically, gasoline prices climbed while diesel saw a drop.
