NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A mother has been given a one-year sentence over an incident that caused her two-year-old’s son in 2023.

Justice Neil Brathwaite handed the sentence to 22-year-old Sabrina Henry after she took a plea deal.

She is expected to receive counseling while in custody and will be on probation for one year once she’s released.

Henry and her partner, Denargio Thurston, were both charged with manslaughter by negligence concerning the August 15 death of Jeremiah Thurston.

On the day in question, Mr Thurston was driving along Old Trail Road with Henry in the front passenger seat.

While in the back seat, little Jeremiah’s neck got caught in the electric window without his parents noticing.

Other motorists had to bring the mishap to their attention.

Tragically, their son was already dead.

Mr. Thurston’s case has been adjourned to September 25.
