Foreign Direct Investment In Latin America And Caribbean Up 7.1% In 2024
LATIN AMERICA/CARIBBEAN – Foreign direct investment in Latin America and the Caribbean rose to nearly $189 billion in 2024, up 7% from the year before according to the United Nation’s Economic Commission for the region.
LATIN AMERICA/CARIBBEAN – Foreign direct investment in Latin America and the Caribbean rose to nearly $189 billion in 2024, up 7% from the year before according to the United Nation’s Economic Commission for the region.
However ECLAC warns the growth came mostly from reinvested profits by firms already there, not from new investors.
The top destinations were Brazil and Mexico.
ECLAC is urging countries to align investment with sustainable, inclusive development especially in critical minerals and digital transformation.
