UNITED STATES – Doctors in the U.S. say a new one-step surgical approach is changing how some breast cancer patients heal.

It’s called total breast reconstruction – combining mastectomy and reconstruction in a single procedure.

Surgeons remove breast tissue and immediately rebuild the breast, reducing recovery time.

Doctors hope the procedure will soon become the new standard of care.
