CUBA – Cuba says it has reconnected its electrical grid after a major outage left Havana and much of western Cuba in the dark this week.

Officials say a main transmission line linking the capital to the country’s largest power plant failed just after 5 a.m.

Power was partially restored by midday.

Four provinces also lost electricity before being reconnected within hours.

This comes as Cubans endure an energy crisis with daily blackouts that can last twenty hours, and Havana now routinely going ten hours or more without power.
