UNITED STATES – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is thanking Kenya for leading the gang suppression force in Haiti, and is urging more countries to step up as violence surges in Port-au-Prince.

Rubio’s push follows a U.N. decision to expand the underfunded international security mission that has struggled to contain Haiti’s armed gangs.

Kenya’s president says their force has been operating at just at 40% of its expected strength.
