$45M Bahamian-Canadian Solar Partnership To Power Family Islands

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Using solar energy to deliver reliable, affordable and sustainable power to the Family Islands is the goal behind Renugen Pro’s new partnership with the government.

The initiative will bring solar-powered microgrids to Cat Island, Long Island and San Salvador, with Canadian energy company Roswall leading the technical development. President and CEO Dan Roscoe says the partnership aligns fully with the country’s clean-energy strategy.

Roscoe explains that solar energy offers a clean, local and cost-stable foundation for the project, helping reduce emissions while improving affordability for consumers.

The microgrids will feature modern, hurricane-resilient designs, along with solar battery storage systems aimed at boosting reliability and operational efficiency. Roscoe says each island has a unique energy profile, and engineers have tailored systems to meet current needs while allowing room for future growth.

The project carries an estimated value between 40 and 45 million dollars. Local ownership is also a key component. Roscoe says opportunities for Bahamians to invest will open early next year, reflecting a shared commitment by both government and Renugen Pro to ensure Bahamians have direct stake in the transition to renewable energy.
