Gatewood, Piancastelli Win “Don’t Blink”
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Jake Gatewood and Erika Piancastelli are the 2025 Don’t Blink Home Run Derby in Paradise champions.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Jake Gatewood and Erika Piancastelli are the 2025 Don’t Blink Home Run Derby in Paradise champions.
Gatewood, a 29-year-old baseball free agent with over 900 games of minor league experience, raked all the way through the first round and the semifinals, staving off 2024 champ Chavez Young and 2023 champ Breias Dean, before tying 2022 champ BJ Murray in the final, forcing a swing-off where he came out victorious.
Piancastelli, the first-ever Home Run Queen, faced tough competition as well.
The Italian pro softball player outlasted strong showings from Americans Shalize Palacios and Morgan Howe and Bahamian Skai Albury, a college freshman who surprised the crowd, and claimed the trophy.
Baha Mar Launches Youth Tennis Pilot Program
That’s Baha Mar Director of Raquets Derron Donaldson announcing Baha Mar’s youth pilot program.
It comes as the Baha Mar Cup, a pro-am fundraiser hosted by tennis superstars John McEnroe and Mark Knowles, got underway.
The pilot will train Bahamian P.E. teachers in the sport and equip young students. The semester will conclude with a tournament at the John McEnroe Tennis Center at Baha Mar.
The Baha Mar Cup, which featured a pro-am tournament and a pro exhibition on Friday and a celebrity pro-am on Saturday, brings superstars from the tennis world along with celebrities together to benefit the Baha Mar Foundation.
And Bahamian students will reap the foundation’s rewards, receiving access to the sport of tennis.
