NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The nation’s top junior sailors took centre stage at one of the landmark events on the sporting calendar, the KPMG Winter Youth Regatta – held this weekend in Montagu Bay.

With over two days of competition, sailors were treated to fantastic conditions on the water as they showcased their skill, poise, and development in a highly competitive field.

Top honours in the ILCA 6 class went to Eliza Denning of Lyford Cay Sailing, while Chase Thompson of Grand Bahama claimed the ILCA 4 title.

In the Sunfish Class, Kai Harvey of the Bahamas National Sailing School sailed to victory, highlighting a strong weekend for the country’s emerging sailing talent.

Thompson Joins Atlanta Hawks Staff

Mychel Thompson has been officially hired by the Atlanta Hawks as a pro scout within the organization’s basketball operations department.

In his new role, Thompson will be responsible for evaluating professional and international talent, supporting the team’s scouting efforts, and identifying players who could fit the Hawks’ roster moving forward as part of their long-term player acquisition strategy.

Thompson’s on court career included time in the NBA as well as multiple seasons in the NBA Development League.

On the international stage, he has been a consistent figure with the Bahamas Men’s National Basketball Program, representing the country as a player, and now as an assistant coach.
