History Of The Oldest Festival
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It is the oldest festival in the country. Fox Hill Day recognized on the second Tuesday of August each year, commemorating the freeing of enslaved Africans in The Bahamas.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It is the oldest festival in the country. Fox Hill Day recognized on the second Tuesday of August each year, commemorating the freeing of enslaved Africans in The Bahamas. Yesterday’s festivities kicking off with a service at St. Paul’s Native Baptist Church.
That’s Prime Minister, Philip Davis detailing the importance of Fox Hill Day celebrations. Davis and several other politicians continuing the age old tradition of attending churches in Fox Hill in commemoration of the historic day.
Free National Movement leader, Michael Pintard also making an appearance.
The day is filled with musical selections, dancing, and recitations at the various churches.
Member of Parliament for Fox Hill, Fred Mitchell also making good on his promise by presenting the churches with a sizable donation.
