GREAT BRITAIN – Great Britain’s 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) Roster was released over the weekend – and joining Jazz Chisholm Jr. will be several returning players from the historic 2023 team in Arizona and others making their debut.

Infielder BJ Murray, Pitcher Chavez Fernander, and Outfielder Trayce Thompson return from the 2023 squad that made history for the program.

Murray, the Chicago Cubs’ prospect – has risen as high as Triple-A , and had a standout season last year with 20 home-runs and 20 stolen bases in Double-A.

Fernander spent his season in the Puerto Rican and Mexican leagues, and Thompson, who spent the last season in the Boston Red Sox system, hit the first homer for Great Britain at the last WBC.

Among the newcomers to the squad: Miami Marlins prospect – Ian Lewis, who spent last season in Single-A, Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Kristian Robinson – who ended the season in Double-A.

Former MLB player Lucius Fox who broke through with the Washington Nationals, and right‑handed reliever Antonio Knowles – currently a Los Angeles Dodgers Triple-A prospect.

Great Britain hopes to advance out of Pool B and into the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Hosted in Houston, Texas, they will open play March 6 against Mexico, followed by the United States on March 7, Italy on March 8, and wraps round‑robin action against Brazil on March 9.

Bahamian players can represent Great Britain because WBC rules allow a player to play for a country if they were born there, have a parent or grandparent from there, or are otherwise eligible for citizenship or a passport under that country’s laws – and because The Bahamas was a former British colony, many Bahamian players qualify for Great Britain under those heritage rules.
