Returning Medalists Lead Carifta Track Qualifiers

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Returning Carifta medalists set the standard early this season, leading the national rankings and pacing into the next wave of qualifiers as the road to Grenada continues to take shape.

10th Year Seniors

Jazae Johnson headlined the Under-17 girls 100m at 11.48 secs, while Keyezra Thomas sat right behind at 11.63 secs and Brion Ward clocks 11.77 secs.

Thomas also led the 400m with a qualifying time of 53.88 secs.

On the boys side, Zion Bradford has already hit the Carifta standard in the Under-17 200m with a 21.85 secs, while Avonte Lotmore is right there with a 21.93 secs, giving The Bahamas two sub-22 sprinters in the event.

In the Under-20 girls 200m, Saige Demeritte punched her ticket early, with a 24.20 secs qualifying mark.

The Under-20 Boys 100m is led by Joshua Wilson, who has already met the standard within 10.47 secs.

Zion Davis has also secured qualifying marks in both the 200 and 400 meters, running 20.99 secs and 47.31 secs. Javano Bridgewater rounds out the list with a qualifiers in 47.11 secs.

Powerlifting

Dominic Stubbs had an impressive international debut this past weekend.

The finance professional took part in the 2026 USAPL PRS in Paradise at Paradise Gym in Miami, Florida.

He completed eight of nine lifts across squat, bench press, and deadlift, finishing with two personal records and matching another.

In the squat, he lifted 220 kilograms or 485 pounds for a new personal record.

On the bench press, he matched his personal record with 145 kilograms or 320 pounds.

In the deadlift, Stubbs set another personal record with 250 kilograms or 551 pounds.

He scored 615 dots, moving him closer to qualifying for the USAPL Raw National Championships and other international events.
