NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A senior citizen has taken a plea deal in connection to a 2021 shooting.

Seventy-two-year-old Anthony Bethel initially faced a charge of attempted murder stemming from the shooting of Nikerlange Lazard in George Town, Exuma, on February 11, 2021.

Bethel pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of causing grievous harm when he appeared before Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez.

Under the deal, he was placed on probation for one year and ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to his victim, who lost an eye.

Bethel shot Lazard with a licensed shotgun after he found him trespassing on his property.
