NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – The Progressive Liberal Party was officially in campaign mode on Monday night, with Prime Minister and party leader, Philip Davis touting his record.
Davis laid out what he calls a new era of opportunity and making the case for a second term.

However, one key detail remains unanswered, which is when Bahamians will actually head to the polls.

“Aint nothing wrong with having fun and a good time as we’re having tonight but we’re also going to address some serious things because these are serious times and there’s a lot at stake in this election”

That message from Prime Minister Philip Davis on Monday night, formally launching the Progressive Liberal Party’s re-election campaign. The event was surrounded by supporters and more than 40 candidates ready to contest seats across the country.

A packed venue, high energy and a leader looking to shift focus from where the country has been, to where he says it can go.

“We can harness new advances in technology to accelerate our development; we can use our small size as an advantage and move quickly to innovate and lead; we can generate more opportunities for Bahamians than ever before and turn a brain drain into a brain gain; we can meet new challenges while protecting our values and traditions; bottom line, we gat what it takes”)

Davis argued that The Bahamas is better positioned today than it was four years ago and made points to his administration’s record.
They included pay increases for nurses and teachers, reductions in value added tax and a hike in the minimum wage.

As the party seeks a second term, the question becomes, what’s next?
