Man, His Son Charged After They Allegedly Obtained Bahamian Passport by Fraud

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man and his son are behind bars after they allegedly obtained a Bahamian passport by fraud.

Prosecutors allege that 59-year-old Gersey Pierre, a Bahamian citizen, submitted a fraudulent marriage certificate to the Passport Office to help 18-year-old Haitian national Max Veve Pierre get a passport.

His son then got a Bahamian voter’s card with the passport.

The men faced charges of conspiracy to commit fraud by false pretenses and fraud pretenses in relation to the passport.

Pierre is accused of possession of a false document and uttering a forged document regarding his voter’s card application.

Both men denied the allegations at their arraignment before Senior Magistrate Anishka Isaacs and were refused bail.

They return to court for trial on May 21.
