MEXICO – Mexico’s navy says it has seized nearly two metric tons of suspected cocaine in a major drug bust off the country’s southern Pacific coast.

Authorities say the interception happened more than 200 nautical miles off the coast of Acapulco in the state of Guerrero.

Officials say the drugs were packed into 80 separate bundles believed to contain cocaine.

The Navy says those packages will now be turned over to Mexico’s Attorney General as investigators work to trace the origin and destination of the shipment.
