GRENADA – Day three’s morning session at CARIFTA Track and Field is traditionally a light schedule, but The Bahamas was still able to add to their medal total.

In the U-20 girls high jump, Alexandria Komalafe cleared 1.70m to claim the bronze medal, while teammate Paris Rolle just missed the podium with a fourth place finish at 1.65m.

Next, in the U-17 girls javelin, Temera Bullard finishes fifth with a throw of 36.14m.

Then in the U-17 boys long jump, Kaiden Miller was 9th at 5.89m, while Shia Pratt was 10th at 5.55m.

Record-breaking Relay Run Headlines Big Night for Team Bahamas – CARIFTA Track & Field

During night two, Team Bahamas delivered it’s biggest medal haul and a new CARIFTA record.

Jazae Johnson won U-17 girls long jump gold with 6.03m, with Taree Forbes taking silver at 5.95m.

Justin Shepherd won octathlon gold with 5387 points, while Ashley Demeritte claimed silver with 4897 points.

In the field, Ethan North took javelin silver with 62.80m, and Joshua Williams cleared 2.00m for high jump silver.

Then on the track, the U-17 girls 4×100 team of Taree Forbes, Brion Ward, Keyezra Thomas and Jazae Johnson won gold in a CARIFTA record 44.21 seconds.

Additionally, the U-17 boys team of Ky’len Johnson, Avonte Lotmore, Lavario Ferguson and Emmile Higgins also won gold in 41.36.

Team Bahamas Widens Lead on Day Two – CARIFTA Swimming

Last year in Trinidad and Tobago, Christon Joseph said his mission for this year’s CARIFTA swimming championships was simple – win all the gold medals.

Joseph did just that on night two of CARIFTA 39 in Martinique.

Joseph won three individual gold medals in the boys 13-14 200m free, 100 fly, and 400m individual medley (IM).

Isabella Cuccurullo also took home the gold in the girls 13-14 400m IM.

Captain’s Tristen Hepburn and Will Farrington won bronze and silver in the boys 15-17 50m fly and 400m IM respectively.

Isabella Munroe won bronze in the girls 11-12 200m free, and Sean Norville Smith brought home a silver medal in the boys 13-14 100m back.

At the end of night 2, Head Coach Travano McPhee assessed his team’s performance.
