Haiti Delays Voter and Candidate Registration

HAITI – Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council has postponed voter and candidate registration for the 2026 elections, citing a new decree that requires alignment with a national political pact.

The delay deepens uncertainty in a country that has not held national elections in more than a decade.

A new date for the registration process, initially scheduled to begin in April, amid approval for the participation of nearly 300 political parties and coalitions, has yet to be announced.
