ST. LUCIA – The 51st Heads of Government Meeting of CARICOM is designed for the heads of state of governments in the region and it’s foreign diplomats.

However, this year, there was also a young diplomat representing The Bahamas.

28-year-old Ashanta Ramsey, sitting on a youth panel at CARICOM, discussed youth solutions for the future, and with the eyes and ears of the region watching and listening, Ramsey spoke to the panel about the struggles of women in the region, and the systems and red tape they usually face.

After the panel, she shared with us why that’s so important.

Then outside of the panel, youth ambassadors across the region also lending their voices to key matters discussed at the head table.

Ramsey is a scholar in her own right, holding degrees at the masters level.

She says she’s grateful to take that education and advocacy across waters in a way that represents her country.
